Mike Young is in his 11th year at Kennesaw State University after being hired as the Director of Sports Medicine in June 2012. Young was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine in 2020. He supervises the sports medicine department, and in addition serves as the athletic trainer with KSU men’s basketball and the men’s and women’s golf programs.  Young also serves the KSU/NCAA healthcare administrator. 

Prior to KSU, Young worked at Miami University for 8 years, serving as an associate athletic trainer and head athletic trainer for men’s basketball, and lead athletic trainer with the women’s cross country and track programs.

Prior to his tenure at Miami University, Young spent four years as an assistant athletic trainer at Stetson University working with their men’s basketball and men’s soccer programs. 

Young obtained his Master of Education from Campbell University in 2000 and his bachelor’s degree from Franklin College in 1997.

Young is certified in the Graston technique, FMS, Owen’s blood flow restriction therapy, functional movement assessment, and the Titleist Performance institute. 

Young is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Georgia Athletic training association.  Young and his wife, Lindsey, live in Woodstock with their daughter Ella 7, and son Ethan 3.
