Mark Wasik began his first year at Kennesaw State in August of 2021 as an associate director of athletic communications, and was promoted in August of 2024 to Director of Basketball Communications. In that role he oversees all the communication efforts for both Owl basketball teams, as well as serving as the primary contact for men's basketball, volleyball and women's lacrosse. He is also the sport program administrator for women's lacrosse.
Wasik came to the Black and Gold with over 20 years of experience in collegiate athletic communications, most recently at UNLV, where he served as the primary contact for women's basketball and men's soccer from 2003-2021. He was the contact for the Rebels' women's soccer and men's and women's swimming and diving teams for 12 seasons as well, while also overseeing the department's athletic communications student internship program that he created.
Wasik has won 16 CoSIDA publication awards for his artwork and writing with media guides and was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee for 20 years.
The Chapel Hill, N.C. native has also made stops in the athletic communications departments at the University of South Alabama, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Georgetown University. He received his bachelor's degree in sport management from Florida State University in 1997, and his master's degree from the University of Tennessee in athletic administration in 1998. He worked as a student assistant in the sports information office at both universities.
Wasik lives in Marietta, Ga., with his wife Rachelle and their five children - Andrew (14), Zachary (14), Nicholas (13), Luke (5) and Olivia (3).
