Ché Roth enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Kennesaw State Owls and 11th year of coaching. Roth arrived at Kennesaw State after a successful two-year stint at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and after three seasons with the Owls he has quickly showed the high-energy attitude and drive that has made him an up-and-coming coach.
Roth is highly involved in numerous aspects of the Owls program, including in-game coaching and practice sessions, individual skill development, scouting, recruiting, student-athlete academic progress.
Before arriving at Kennesaw State, Roth served as an assistant coach and Director of Basketball Operations for UMKC under Rich Zvosec, the winningest coach in program history. During his two years with the Kangaroos, he helped guide the team to a better than .700 winning percentage in Mid-Continent Conference games.
Before joining the UMKC staff, Roth spent three years as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Washburn University, where his squad won three consecutive Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships and made three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.
In addition to his assistant coaching roles, Roth was selected as head coach for the United States 18 & Under team in the 2005 World Friendship Games in Amsterdam, the world's largest amateur basketball competition, where he led the USA to an 8-3 record and a silver medal against a field of 21-teams, all from different countries.
Under Roth's tutelage at Kennesaw State and UMKC, a total of eight players have earned all-conference honors, with several of his players earning national recogntion. In addition, 16 of Roth's former players have gone on to play professionally.
Roth's student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom, with 26 of his players earning conference all-academic honors.
In the past, Roth coordinated Tony Ingle's annual summer basketball camp and many team community service projects. With the Owls, Roth will also assist in the organization of the Owls annual golf tournament, the 100 Club and will aid with all aspects of fundraising.
Roth is an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Prior to coaching in the collegiate ranks, he spent two years as an assistant coach of the varsity squad at De Soto High School in De Soto, Kan.
While he was in high school, Roth was an avid student-athlete, earning four letters in basketball, three in football and two in track and field, all at Spring Hill High School in Spring Hill, Kan.
Roth, a native of Spring Hill, Kansas, is a graduate of Washburn University where he received a degree in Physical Education. He resides in Dallas, Ga., with his wife, Candice, and son, Cash.
