Mitch Militello is in his second season as the offensive coordinator, play-caller, and quarterbacks coach at Kennesaw State.
In his first year leading the Kennesaw State offense, the Owls led Conference USA in scoring in league play with 34.5 points per game. The year prior to the arrival of Militello and Jerry Mack, Kennesaw finished last in scoring in league play with 18.6 points per game.
Over his decade of FBS experience, Militello played part in the development of many highly successful quarterbacks, including Drew Lock, McKenzie Milton, Dillon Gabriel, Hendon Hooker, Joe Milton and Nico Iamaleava.
In his first year as Kennesaw’s quarterbacks coach, he tutored Amari Odom to first team all-conference honors and conference championship MVP.
Militello came to Kennesaw, reuniting with head coach Jerry Mack, after nine consecutive seasons working closely under Josh Heupel and Joey Halzle.
In Knoxville (2021-24), he helped tutor quarterbacks Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton, who both went on to be NFL Draft picks in the third and sixth rounds, respectively. With Militello on staff, the Vols posted the No. 1 offense in the country in 2022, gashing opponents for 525.5 yards and 46.1 points per game, both tops nationally.
Prior to Tennessee, Militello worked with UCF (2018-20), helping lead the Knights to Top 10 offenses each of his three seasons. UCF finished fifth (522.7 yards per game), second (540.5 ypg) and second (568.1 ypg), respectively, while also finishing sixth (43.2 points per game), fifth (53.4 ppg) and eighth (42.2 ppg).
While in Orlando, Militello worked closely with quarterback McKenzie Milton, who was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, and Dillon Gabriel, who finished his career as the all-time college football record-holder for touchdown passes (105).
Prior to UCF, Militello was on staff at Missouri for two seasons (2016-17), helping guide the Tigers to the No. 1 offense in the SEC in 2017 (502.2 ypg).
Militello worked closely with both the offensive staff and quarterback Drew Lock, who broke the SEC passing record for touchdowns (43) in 2017 before ultimately becoming a second-round pick in the NFL Draft.
Militello is a St. Louis, Missouri native and a 2017 graduate of the University of Missouri. While in school, he worked for the baseball team as a student assistant before starting as a student coach with the Missouri football team.
He and his wife, Erin, have a son, Jackson.
