Jake Lassiter enters his third season on the KSU coaching staff after an outstanding career as a student-athlete at Kennesaw State. Lassiter, a three-time All-Big South Conference selection, will serve as the offensive graduate assistant for the program.
In his first year on the coaching staff, Lassiter helped mentor three Phil Steele All-ASUN performers on the offensive line in Zion Katina, Matt Olson and Terrell Paxton.Â
Last season saw KSU begin its first year transitioning to the FBS and a new offense from a flexbone-based option attack to a pistol offense. In just the third game of the season, KSU single-game record for passing yards (309), completions (17) and pass attempts (31). On the ground, Michael Benefield to be the only player in program history with four-straight 100-yard rushing games.

Played in 13 games and made 12 starts on the offensive line for the top rushing attack in the country … earned first team All-Big South honors … started 12 consecutive games, including the opening round of the FCS Playoffs at No. 11 Wofford (Nov. 30) … helped pave the way for Kennesaw State to finish No. 1 in the country in rushing yards per game at 342.4 yards per contest and average 6.3 yards per rush … blocked for a rushing offense that recorded 400+ rushing yards in a game four times, including a season-high 490 yards against North Alabama (Oct. 26) … helped KSU set the program record with 58 rushing touchdowns, including three different games with six rushing scores … part of an offensive line that allowed just 10 sacks on the year to rank No. 3 in the country at 0.64 sacks allowed per game … helped block for Bronson Rechsteiner’s program-record 221 rushing yards at Missouri State (Sept. 21).

Attended FAU out of high school before transferring to Coffeyville Community College and playing under head coach Aaron Flores … played in seven games and caught three passes at Coffeyville … helped lead team to a 5-6 record.
