Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

Student-Athlete Wellness Initiative

Kennesaw State University Athletics sponsors multiple life skills and wellness programs through our annual Student-Athlete Orientation and other stand-alone programs.  Topics have included nutrition, sport psychology, communicating effectively, diversity, time management, money management, social media pitfalls and many others.  We try to address topics that are very timely and useful for our student-athletes by bringing in campus, community and nationally recognized speakers.

Sports Medicine
The sports medicine staff is tasked with managing all aspects of our student-athletes’ health and well-being.  They have established and continue to pursue professional relationships with a variety of outside medical providers to insure that our student-athletes have the appropriate resources.  They are also instrumental in our wellness education programming and have done presentations on drug and alcohol prevention and healthy habits.

Strength & Conditioning
The strength and conditioning staff is tasked with enhancing the performance level of our student-athletes while developing injury prevention programs.  They work closely with our coaches and sports medicine staff to develop programs appropriate for each sport and each student-athlete.
Charitable Organization Information

The KSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a student-athlete organization comprised of individuals selected by their coaches and teammates for their leadership potential. SAAC is comprised of representatives from each intercollegiate team, as well our spirit teams, and is led by an executive committee. They serve as the main line of communication between the student-athletes and the athletic administration to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and provide input on the KSU Athletics, Atlantic Sun Conference and NCAA rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes.  SAAC also spearheads the community service and charitable fundraising efforts of the student-athlete body and encourages the cohesion between and the support of all teams.

Charitable Organization Information
SAAC will work with a number of charitable organizations this year. The service and fundraising efforts will include:
· The Golden Soldiers
· The Horizon League – Special needs sports league within Acworth Parks & Rec.
· The Alexis Kaiser Foundation – Supports children with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities
· MUST Ministries
· KSU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for Senior Citizens
