OWLS Champions Initiative Presented by Henssler Financial

The OWLS Champions Initiative presented by Henssler Financial program is the over-arching program that reflects our commitment to invest in the lives of Kennesaw State University student-athletes in such a way as to foster not only academic and athletic excellence, but to impact their development mentally, socially, vocationally and even spiritually.

Our student-athletes are excelling in the classroom, in the community and in competition, and the mission of the Department of Athletics it to ensure that all student-athletes continue to develop as champions and become true servant leaders. If we succeed in our mission, the student-athletes from Kennesaw State University will ultimately become champions for a lifetime!

Champions in the classroom
At Kennesaw State, developing champions is more than just building physical strength and endurance. It's also about developing leaders who serve as role models in the classroom and in the community. During the 2015-16 season, Kennesaw State's student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.97.

Since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2006, more than 1,000 Kennesaw State student-athletes received Atlantic Sun academic honors.

Champions in the community
It takes more than just winning games to be a champion. Whether they are helping elementary school children learn to read, sharing the joy of sports with children with special needs or helping victims of a tornado, Kennesaw State student-athletes demonstrate that being a true champion is also measured by what you do for others.

Champions in competition
Kennesaw State is already making its mark in NCAA Division I. Since the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, Kennesaw State has produced numerous Atlantic Sun champions and has competed in many national tournaments. In addition, numerous Kennesaw State coaches have been recognized as Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year.
