At Texas Tech, named the Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year by the conference coaches ... Appeared in 26 matches with 12 starts...Finished with 10 solo blocks, tied for second-highest on the team...Fourth overall in total blocks with 49...Made an impact early in the year against UTSA with a season-high 11 kills and eight blocks...Also posted a season-high .429 hitting percentage in the match, the second-highest percentage for a Tech player in a single match this season...Inserted into the lineup at Oklahoma and responded with nine kills and eight blocks, which matched her season high...Recorded a .389 hitting percentage against the Sooners...Came in and delivered against Oklahoma again on Oct. 23...Finished with 10 kills and four blocks...Was second on the team in kills against Nebraska, finishing with seven...Matched her season high for block solos at Missouri with two...Closed the year with seven kills at Baylor to go along with four digs.

Prep:
Was a three-year letterwinner at Aplington Parkersburg High School in California for coach Darrel Koenen...Team qualified for the state tournament from 2004-06, winning the state title in 2005...Led the team in blocks during 2006 season...Also participated in basketball and track and field for the Falcons.

Personal:
Justine Aleece Young...born in 1989 to parents Jeff and Jolyn Young...has a twin brother, Jordan, and an older sister, Jaeda...Jordan currently plays basketball at Des Moines Area Community College, while Jaeda played volleyball at both Ellsworth College and Grand View University.
