KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football senior running back
Triston Morgan was lauded for his all-around play in the Owls' 47-0 rout of West Georgia, earning Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
The weekly awards are voted on by a panel of the league's media.
Morgan led the conference with a whopping 131 all-purpose yards in Week 1, making an impact on multiple fronts on Thursday. On special teams, the Atlanta native returned a kickoff for 47 yards before blocking West Georgia's first punt of the game to setup great field position for the Owls.
On offense, Morgan rolled up 76 yards of rushing and scored the second touchdown of the 2026 season for KSU, hitting paydirt on a 60-yard gash up the middle. He also hauled in a reception for 7 yards.
The Owls rushed for 297 yards on the night – their most against a Division I opponent since 2021 – and had four different touchdown rushers – only the second time in KSU's FBS era.
Morgan and the Owls remain home to host another highly anticipated in-state battle in Georgia State on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
