KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State Athletics, together with Conference USA and the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, is proud to honor Megan Eubanks from Hayes Elementary School through the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative. This recognition highlights her dedication to students, education, and supporting future teachers.
As part of this recognition, Hayes Elementary School received a $9,000 grant, and Eubanks was awarded an extra $1,000 for her classroom. Altogether, this means a $10,000 investment in local education.
Kennesaw State volleyball player Olivia Burrage nominated Eubanks for this honor. Burrage is finishing her student teaching at Hayes Elementary, where Eubanks has been her mentor and leader.
This connection gave a Kennesaw State student-athlete the chance to recognize a teacher who is making a difference for both elementary students and future educators.
"Ms. Eubanks has played such an important role in my student teaching experience," Burrage said. "She has shown me what it looks like to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn. I am incredibly thankful for her mentorship and everything she has taught me, and I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this recognition."
Through the partnership between Conference USA and the CFP Foundation's Extra Yard for Teachers initiative, schools can honor and support educators who make a real difference in their schools and communities. The program gives teachers resources, recognition, and support, and it shows how important educators are in shaping students' lives. Community members and parents can also get involved in many ways, such as volunteering at school events, helping organize appreciation activities, or contributing to support educational programs like this one. By coming together, local residents can help celebrate educators and strengthen the network of support for teachers and students.
For Kennesaw State Athletics, this initiative is also a way to show how Owl student-athletes make a difference beyond sports by connecting with local educators and schools.

The $9,000 grant will give Hayes Elementary more resources to support its students and educational goals. Eubanks will also receive $1,000 for classroom needs.
