KENNESAW, Ga. – - Kennesaw State will face three regional opponents this weekend in the South Alabama Invitational this weekend in Mobile, Ala., though there has been limited action all-time between the Owls and the three teams. It starts on the Friday with the first-meeting between KSU and South Alabama since the 2022 season, in a 7 p.m. contest that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
- The weekend competition also includes Tulane from the American Conference. The contest on Saturday between the two schools with be the first ever meeting as well. In addition, Sunday will be the eighth meeting all-time between KSU and Georgia, but the first since 2019.
- KSU comes into the weekend with a 5-1 mark, which includes back-to-back sweeps. In fact, four of the five wins this year have been sweeps, and KSU has lost just four sets total this season.
- It's a young squad for the Owls this year, and that's featured in their starting lineup as well. In addition to freshman outside hitter Anna Ofenheusle who started two of the three games, she was joined in the starting lineup by first-year defensive specialist Alexis Sowers, who became KSU's first freshman to start at libero since Maddie Jones in 2015. This week, she became the first-ever Owl to claim CUSA Freshman of the Week honors, and currently is tops in the league in digs per set at 4.76. Classmate Ashley Theiss is also showing up strong, having started both wins last week at home.
