EUGENE, Ore. — Gage Voyles became the first U.S. U20 track and field champion in program history Friday night at Hayward Field.
Voyles won the high jump with a clearance of 2.24 meters (7-4.25) and met the World Athletics U20 qualifying standard during the competition. With the victory, he earned a spot on Team USA for the World Athletics U20 Championships, where he will compete Aug. 6 at 2:05 p.m. ET.
Three other Owls concluded their freshman seasons in Eugene on Thursday and Friday.
Marion Clark placed 11th in the 400-meter hurdles in his first hurdle race since winning a gold medal at the Conference USA Championships last month.
Ebony Whyte closed her freshman season with a time of 11.73 seconds in the 100 meters.
Tickia Sutton finished 16th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05 seconds.

Current and former KSU track and field athletes will continue competing in national and international events throughout the summer.
Voyles, Kali Terza, Daniel Haugh and likely others will compete at the USATF Outdoor Championships in New York from July 23-26. Terza also will represent KSU and the United States at the FISU America Games in Peru in early August.
