KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State baseball fell to Louisiana Tech, 6-3, Friday night at Mickey Dunn Stadium at Henssler Financial Field.
The Owls (16-18, 6-10 CUSA) struck out 20 times in the loss, marking the most in the program's Division I history and tying the Conference USA single-game record. Despite the swing-and-miss, KSU found success when putting the ball in play, recording nine hits, with Shamaar McDuffie and Cooper Williams leading the way with three apiece.
After entering in the third inning, Ryan Gold delivered his best outing of the season, tossing 5.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts, both season highs. Ryan Renfroe continued his strong stretch out of the bullpen, allowing just one walk while striking out three across 1.2 scoreless innings.
How it Happened
- T1 | A two-out triple to center field followed by an RBI single gave the Bulldogs an early lead (1-0, Louisiana Tech).
- B1 | Cooper Williams answered immediately, launching the first pitch he saw over the right-center field wall to tie the game (1-1).
- T2 | Louisiana Tech plated four runs on five hits and an error to take control (5-1, Louisiana Tech).
- T3 | The visitors added to their lead with an RBI single (6-1).
- B4 | Aaron Posey reached on a two-base error and later scored on a Shamaar McDuffie single. McDuffie came around two pitches later on a Cooper Williams RBI double (6-3).
