Kennesaw State Returns to Atlanta for Georgia Tech Invitational

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State will resume its 2026 outdoor track & field season at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Friday and Saturday at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility.
 
The meet will start at 11:30 a.m. with the hammer throw before the full slate of field events all begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday's running events will begin at 5:30 p.m. as the 5000m races close the night out at 9:15 p.m. Saturday's field events will all start at noon as the track races commence at 1 p.m. concluding with the 4x400m relay at 4:45 p.m.

Weather Report
Sunny skies are forecasted for both days of competition. Friday's high temperature is expected to be 86, while Saturday could reach 85.
 
Distance Dimes
The KSU middle distance and long-distance groups are off to a strong start this outdoor season.
 
The women have been led by Emma Sullivan, Riley Perlakoski, Madison Seiler and Samantha McGarity. Sullivan has the top time in CUSA in the 800m and No. 2 time in the 1500m. Perlakowski sits third in the CUSA 800m standings. Seiler has the top time in CUSA in the 3K steeplechase and is fourth in the 1500m. McGarity ranks No. 2 in the 10K and No. 3 in the 5K this season.
 
The KSU men have been led by Justin Warner, Collins Kipkemboi, Brian Limo and Edwin Kiprono. Kiprono has the top time in CUSA in the 1500m and ranks third in the 800m. Limo and Kipekemboi are ranked third and fourth in the 10K. Warner is currently No. 8 in CUSA in the 800m.

The Owls earned some more high rankings in the third set of USTFCCCA
Outdoor rankings this week. Nine KSU event groups are ranked in the top 25 in the #EventSquad Rankings.

 Record Breakers
KSU has taken down program records in five different events during the first four weekends of the 2026 outdoor season, with senior Kali Terza breaking the women's hammer throw  mark three times.
 
Women's 400m – Emma Sullivan – 53.10
Women's Hammer Throw – Kali Terza – 69.05m (226'6")
 
Men's High Jump – Gage Voyles – 2.18m (7'1.75")
Men's 400m hurdles – Josh Jones – 51.81 seconds
 
 CUSA  Leaders
The 2026 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium, May 14-16 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.  The KSU men have the top mark in five events, and the women have it in three events.
 
 
Up Next
A small group of Owls will head to the Penn Relays on Apr. 24-25. Kali Terza will compete in the hammer throw at the World Athletics Continental Tour at the Drake Relays.
