KSU Rally Falls Short in Nail-Biter Versus Jax State

KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State men's tennis dropped its first Conference USA match of the season in a 4-2 defeat to Jax State on Friday afternoon at Betty Siegel Courts.

Ben Hudson and Xavi Ferrer started doubles play strongly for the Owls with a 6-3 win over the Gamecocks' Alin Fatu and Charlie Penman on court three. KSU was unable to come out on top on courts one and two, and ceded the doubles point to Jax State.

Four singles matches included sets decided by a tie-break. It was the Gamecocks' 3-1 advantage in such sets that proved the difference on Friday. KSU fell behind 3-0 with Jax State taking courts two and one, including a 7-6 (8-6) set-one win for Charlie Penman that swung momentum against Leon Peranovic.

Erik Vladimirov posted the Owls' first point of the day with a rally-sparking 6-4, 6-4 win over Timo De Visser on court five.

Ferrer followed with a 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 defeat of Fatu to take court six and bring KSU within a point.

The Gamecocks clinched the match, fittingly, in a tie-break on court three as Aman Dahiya defeated Dominic Ducariu 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
