Win Streak Snapped at Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After eight consecutive wins, Kennesaw State women's tennis dropped its first match since Feb. 13 in a 4-2 defeat to Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon at Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.

"This was a tough one today on the road against a really good Lipscomb team," said KSU director of tennis Matt Emery. "It came down to the wire and just didn't go our way today. We are ready to get back after it against Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday."

Maria Ivankovic and Irene Serrano Maestre started the day strong for the Owls with a 6-3 doubles win on court three over Lipscomb's Martina Bovio and Kameliia Tytarenko. KSU was unable to secure the doubles point after losses on courts one and two (5-7, 3-6).

The Owls trailed 0-2 early in singles play after losing court four, but Ema Baraniakova rallied to win court one (7-6, 6-4) for her team's first point of the day. KSU closed the gap and squared the match 2-2 after Sofia Madrid defeated Mariia Dolzhenko 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 on court two for her seventh consecutive singles win.

Lipscomb clinched the match with points three and four coming on courts four and five.
