KENNESAW Ga. - Kennesaw State baseball fell to Liberty, 11-5, Saturday afternoon at Mickey Dunn Stadium at Henssler Financial Field, as the Flames claimed the series.
Aaron Posey turned in his first three-hit game of the year, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a homer, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Wesley Alig, Jackson Chirello, Chris Cole, James McGee and Trenton Lyons added a hit each, with McGee and Grayson McCollum driving in runs.
Jayden Summerville (L, 0-1) made his first career start on the mound, tossing 3.0 innings, allowing three hits, four runs (two earned) and two walks while striking out a career-high five. Ty Bayer was effective in relief, allowing just one run and one hit in 2.1 innings, striking out two.
How it Happened
- T1 | The Flames scored four runs on three hits, aided by an error (4-0, Liberty).
- B4 | With runners on the corners and one out, Grayson McCollum lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring James McGee (4-1).
- T6 | Liberty extended its lead with an RBI single (5-1).
- T8 | The visitors added four more runs on three hits, highlighted by a three-run homer (9-1).
- B8 | McGee poked a single through the left side to score Chris Cole and Aaron Posey (9-3).
- T9 | Liberty plated two runs on a hit and an error, but left the bases loaded (11-3).
- B9 | Posey lifted a two-run homer to right field, driving in Wesley Alig (11-5).
Notes from the Diamond
- Posey turned in his first three-hit outing of the season and threw out two base stealers, tying his career-best mark.
- Summerville struck out a career-best five hitters.
- Posey now owns a six-game hitting streak, dating back to Feb. 27.
- Over that span, the senior backstop is 10-for-18 (.556) with three doubles, a home run, four RBIs and five runs scored.
- Chirello advanced his on-base streak to 10 games, while McGee has now reached base in eight-straight games.
