MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Kennesaw State baseball could not mount a late rally, falling to Middle Tennessee, 4-3, in Sunday afternoon's series finale at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
The Owls (8-8, 1-2 CUSA) took an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning after each of the first three hitters reached base. After Middle Tennessee responded to take the lead in the bottom of the second inning, KSU scored two runs in the fourth to regain the advantage. However, a two-run seventh inning pushed the Blue Raiders to the series win.
Nolan Sliver made his third start of the season, allowing just two runs (one earned) in 6.0 innings of action. Despite surrendering seven hits, the senior right-hander turned in the longest start by an Owl this season.
How it Happened
- T1 | Cooper Williams poked a leadoff single up the middle before Trenton Lyons walked. Jackson Chirello then lifted a bloop single to left, scoring Williams (1-0, Kennesaw State).
- B1 | A pair of singles and a fielder's choice allowed the Blue Raiders to score a run on an errant pickoff attempt (1-1).
- B2 | Middle Tennessee took the lead after a leadoff double was driven in on a sacrifice fly (2-1, Middle Tennessee).
- T4 | After Charlie Jones reached on an error and Chris Cole lined a single up the middle, Aaron Posey laced a two-run double to right-center field (3-2, Kennesaw State).
- B7 | The Blue Raiders reclaimed the lead, scoring two runs on three hits (4-3, Middle Tennessee).
