KENNESAW, Ga. — A duo of Kennesaw State seniors will make their first trip to the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. Chance Cross will run in the men's 60m semifinal at 6:45 p.m. Eastern, while Kali Terza will compete in the women's weight throw at 8:30 p.m. Eastern at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

This marks the first time since 2023 (Sarah Hndrick and Isaiah Rogers) that KSU has qualified both a male and female participant for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in the same year.

How to Follow the Owls

The meet will be televised live on ESPN+, with a tape-delayed broadcast slated for March 15 at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU.

Live results will be provided by Flash Results.

Men's 60m

Event Schedule:
Friday at 6:45 p.m. Eastern (Semifinal)
Saturday at 5:40 p.m. Eastern (Final)

KSU Competitor: Chance Cross

Season Best/Personal Best: 6.54 seconds / 6.54 seconds

How He Got Here

Cross ran a career-best time of 6.54 seconds in the semifinals at the Tiger Paw Invite on Feb. 14. That time set a school record and was the fastest time run in Conference USA this season. It ranks tied for 10th in the NCAA this season.

Cross has raced eight times in the 60m and won four times. He has placed in the top three in eight of nine races this season. He opened the season with a win at the Samford Invitational and collected another victory in a strong field at the Tiger Paw Invite. He also won his second consecutive CUSA title with a time of 6.56 seconds, setting a new meet and facility record.

Cross will be the ninth men's sprinter from Conference USA to compete in the 60m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

He will become KSU's first athlete (male or female) to compete in the 60m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Event Breakdown

Cross is part of a 60m field that consists of 11 Americans and five international competitors.

Cross will run in lane 1 in heat 1 of the semifinals. Next to Cross will be Omari Lewis. Cross defeated Lewis to win gold in the 60m and 100m at the CUSA Championships when Lewis competed for Liberty. Lewis is now at Auburn, where he is joined by Israel Okon and Kanyinsola Ajayi. Ajayi has the fastest time in the country this season at 6.45 seconds.

Cross is one of five sprinters in the field of 16 who won gold in this event at their conference championship this year.

Five of the 16 sprinters in the field competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2025.

What's at Stake

As long as Cross finishes the semifinal race Friday, he is guaranteed at least second-team All-America honors. If he finishes inside the top eight in Saturday's final, he will become a first-team All-American.

Cross would become KSU's first athlete (male or female) to earn All-America honors in the 60m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

A top-eight finish would earn KSU its first team points at this meet since 2023, when Isaiah Rogers won the national championship in the weight throw.

TCU's Kim Collins recorded the top finish by a CUSA men's sprinter, earning national runner-up honors at the 2001 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Women's Weight Throw

Event Schedule:
Friday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern

KSU Competitor: Kali Terza

Season Best/Personal Best: 22.50m (73-10) / 22.50m (73-10)

How She Got Here

Terza opened the season with a then-personal-best mark of 21.71m (71-2½) while winning the Clemson Opener. That mark remained ranked in the top 16 nationally throughout the season. Terza competed in four other meets in which she placed second, second, sixth and eighth.

On Feb. 27, she won the gold medal at the CUSA Indoor Championships with a mark of 21.13m (69-4). With a trip to Fayetteville hanging in the balance, Terza elected to travel to New York to compete in the USATF Indoor Championships. She finished third with a personal-best mark of 22.50m (73-10).

That mark set a school record and ranks tied for sixth in the NCAA this season.

Terza will be the first female Owl to compete in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She will be the sixth Conference USA representative all time in the event.

After Friday, Terza will have competed at both NCAA national championships. She placed 13th in the hammer throw at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Terza owns the KSU school records in both the weight throw and hammer throw. She is the only woman in program history to throw the weight more than 20 meters and the only woman to record a hammer throw longer than 60 meters.

Event Breakdown

Terza is one of 14 Americans competing in the women's weight throw Friday evening.

The field is strong again this year. Terza and Colorado State's Kajssa Borrowman are the only two throwers not from schools in power four conferences. Eight of the 16 throwers represent Big Ten Conference schools. Giovanna Meeks of Texas holds the top mark this season at 24.45m (80-4¼).

What's at Stake

As long as Terza records at least one legal mark Friday, she is guaranteed at least second-team All-America honors. If she finishes inside the top eight, she will become a first-team All-American.

A top-eight finish would earn KSU its first team points in the event since 2023, when Sarah Hendrick placed fifth in the 800m.

The highest finish by a CUSA women's weight thrower at this meet is third place, achieved by Charlotte's Victoria Merriweather in 2017.
