TROY, Ala. – Kennesaw State softball made history in its 16-7 victory over Furman, breaking the single-game hits record in the Division I era. It was an offensive explosion as the Black and Gold scored the second-most runs in program history as well.
Alora Bevily and
Hannah Harvey became the first pair of Owls to record four hits in a single game since 2024.
Ana Gore and
Macie Howes led the way with three RBI. Gore became the first player in program history to record two sacrifice flies in the same game.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader against Troy was canceled.
How It Happened
The fireworks started in the first inning as the Owls hung three runs. Howes sparked the two-out rally by going yard for her second homer of the season. After Bevily and
Ava Guzowski got on base and moved into scoring position,
Jojo Johnson singled them home. Furman responded with two runs of its own in the bottom frame.
KSU added two more runs in the second with two outs on the board. Gore hit a deep fly ball to bring home
Ava Brooke Strickland and Howes doubled to score Harvey.
A four-run fourth inning put the Black and Gold up seven. Howes recorded her third-straight extra-base hit to add one run. Bevily beat out the throw to first and recorded an RBI two batters later. An error by the Paladins made it 9-2.
It looked as though the Owls could end the game in five innings after going up eight, but Furman scored three runs to extend the game.
The Black and Gold batted around the order in the top half of the sixth, tacking on six runs.
Rylee Limberger tallied her first RBI as an Owl. Strickland and Harvey each knocked in two runners in back-to-back at bats. Gore added the final run.
Furman scored two in the bottom of the sixth for the final 16-7 score.
