KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball looks to start a new home win streak when it hosts Sam Houston in a Conference USA contest on Saturday in a Valentine's Day matchup at 5 p.m. at VyStar Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Owls are also looking to split the season series with the Bearkats falling in a high scoring game in Huntsville a month ago, a 93-87 decision on Jan. 21.
♦ The shorthanded Owls have seen a pair of players step up recently. RJ Johnson is averaging 19.7 points per game over the past nine games, while Jaden Harris entered the regular-game rotation on Jan. 17, and is posting 8.9 points per game in conference action, including 12.0 ppg over the past three.
♦ The Owls are scoring at high rate this season, currently 23rd in the nation at 85.4 points per game, which easily leads Conference USA.
♦ KSU is having another strong year in the boards as well, ranking sixth in the nation in total rebounds per game (42.6 rpg) and 27th in rebound margin (+6.7) in the nation.
♦ It's also been a strong year defensively for the Owls as well, currently 26th in the nation in field goal defense at 40.2%. The school record for best field goal defense in a season was set a year ago, as the 2024-25 squad limited teams to 41.4% from the floor.
♦ One sign of the Owls' improved defensive play has been inside the post, as KSU currently leads CUSA and is 11th in the nation in blocks per game at 5.5. Key to that has been Braedan Lue and Trey Simpson, one of just 17 duos in the nation with at least 32 total blocks each this season.
