KSU Drops Home Game Versus Jax State

KENNESAW, Ga. — Cold shooting and rebounding struggles proved too much for Kennesaw State women's basketball to overcome in a 74-47 loss to Jax State on Saturday afternoon at Vystar Arena.

First Half
The Owls shot 7-of-15 from the field in the first quarter, with Latazia Williamson's five early points leading the team. Jax State started even hotter from the field at 8-of-11 and used an 8-4 rebounding advantage to end the first quarter, leading 25-16.
While KSU cooled the Gamecock offense to 5-of-16 from the field in the second quarter, the Owls also struggled to find the bottom of the net with a 3-of-16 mark. KSU trailed by as many as 16 with seven minutes before the half. At the break, Jax State led 37-22 with advantages of 48-32% in shooting, 7-1 in 3-pointers and 24-12 in rebounding.

Second Half
The Owls strung together some positive plays to open the second half, with TaTianna Stovall sending an offensive rebound to Williamson for a jumper and the third quarter's first points. Stovall added a jumper of her own moments later, but another barrage of Jax State triples left KSU down 52-34 by quarter's end.
Jax State hit four more 3-pointers to pull away in the fourth quarter. The Owls continued to battle late with Shania Nichols scoring seven of her 10 points on consecutive possessions. Following Nichols' scoring burst, the Gamecocks closed the contest on a 9-2 run for the 74-47 decision.

Game Notes
