KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Simeon Cottle and Trey Simpson swept the Conference USA Men's Basketball weekly honors this week, picking up Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday. This is the second weekly honor of the season for both players, and the fifth of Cottle's career.

A senior guard from College Park, Ga. (Tri-Cities HS), Cottle made his mark on the KSU record book during the Owls' 2-0 week, as he led them to a 90-80 win over Missouri State and an 88-82 victory against Jacksonville State. In the win against the MSU Bears, he scored a game-high 25 points, and became the fifth player in school history to reach the 1,500 point mark after going 8-of-8 at the line in the final two minutes. He also set a new career-high with 11 assists for his first career double-double. Cottle followed that with a 28-point performance in the win over the Gamecocks. He was 5-of-9 from three-point range in the contest, and his first trey of the game set a new KSU career record for most three-pointers all-time, a record that now stands at 237.

Cottle averaged 26.5 points per game for the week, six more points than the next highest scorer in the conference, and currently ranks 34th in the nation in scoring at 20.2 points per game. He also averaged 7.5 assists per game, and shot 26-of-28 at the line (92.9%).

Simpson, a freshman forward from Evergreen, Ala., broke out of a scoring slump with an 18-point performance against Missouri State, and then followed that with nine points in the win over Jax State. He was deadly from outside, leading the league last week in three-point field goals (4.0 per game) and three-point percentage (47.1% - 8-of-17). Simpson also made an impact defensively, as his six blocks were tied for the most of any player in CUSA last week.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls close out a three-game homestand on Wednesday night when they host the FIU Panthers at 7 p.m. in VyStar Arena. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
