KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football defensive back
Caleb Offord was lauded for his performance in the Owls' 24-16 victory over Middle Tennessee this weekend, earning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.
The weekly awards are voted on by a panel of the league's media.

Offord helped anchor a backend for nearly 40 minutes (38:59) as Kennesaw State won its third-straight game and CUSA opener. He finished the game with five tackles, one for loss and three massive pass breakups.
The Southaven, Miss. native covered MTSU's top target on their final drive of the game, smothering the receiver to break up their second-and-12 pass and their fourth-and-12 pass to seal the victory for Kennesaw State.
On the week, Offord led all CUSA defensive players with number of snaps in pass coverage (51) and led CUSA defensive players in coverage grades in BOTH man coverage (81.9) and zone coverage (75.6), according to
Pro Football Focus.
He recorded the top defensive PFF grade overall (82.1) among CUSA cornerbacks as his receiver was targeted nine times with only five completions allowed. He also did not incur a single penalty all game.
On the season, Offord has proved to be one of the top defensive backs in the country, ranking tied for second nationally with eight passes defended on the season. He also leads Conference USA this season with his eight passes defended overall and leads with three in conference action.
Kennesaw State football gets a short rest of a bye week before finishing up its four-game homestand on Thursday, Oct. 9 against Louisiana Tech at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU and the KSU Owls app.
