KENNESAW, Ga. -- As part of the Extra Yard for Teachers Week Big Day celebration, Kennesaw State Athletics honors Kendra Fulford, a standout teacher at Bullard Elementary, known for her innovative teaching methods and recipient of the 2024 Teacher of the Year Award.
Anchoring EYFT Week was the sixth annual Big Day for Teachers on Tuesday, Sept. 16 -- the most significant single-day effort of community impact by the extended college football family, completely focused on educators. Thousands of dollars in DonorsChoose funds for classroom projects were distributed on the Big Day.
Fulford will be recognized at the football game on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Fifth Third Stadium at Walens Family Field. Fans can look forward to a special recognition of her impact as an educator who helps shape future leaders. Additionally, an $8,000 grant, courtesy of Conference USA and the College Football Playoff Foundation, will be presented to the school during Saturday's game.
"Education and sport go hand in hand," said Jacob Dye, assistant athletic director of marketing & fan experience. "Both teach discipline, teamwork, and the power of perseverance. Honoring teachers like Kendra reminds us that the lessons learned off the field are just as important as the ones learned on it. At KSU, we are thrilled to honor our local heroes and express a heartfelt thank you for their daily dedication."
The Extra Yard for Teachers initiative, powered by the College Football Playoff Foundation, celebrates outstanding educators nationwide. Extra Yard for Teachers Week is an annual weeklong celebration during the back-to-school time of year to honor and recognize great teachers. Since its inception in 2014, the CFP Foundation and its EYFT platform have supported more than 550,000 teachers nationwide, creating a positive impact for more than 12 million students and 60,000 schools while collectively investing approximately $80 million in support of education nationwide.
