KENNESAW, Ga. – Despite a season-high 22 shots, Kennesaw State women's soccer couldn't find the back of the net as they fell to Bellarmine, 1-0.

It was Sydni Whitehead's first game against her former team. She started the match, logging 77 minutes with two shots.

Coach Chris Cahill's Remarks:
"It's frustrating to have as many chances as we did, bang a few off the post and crossbar, and come out on the wrong end of this game," Cahill said. "Defensively we continue to be strong and I see our team progressing in putting both sides together. I feel like we are close but we need to be more consistent in the final third."

First Half
Despite the 0-0 first half scoreline, the Owls dominated the possession and scoring chances.

Their first opportunity came five minutes in when they had a free kick but the Knights' defensive wall blocked it.

Bellarmine got some good early looks themselves. Starting in the 18th minute, the Knights had five shots in a two-minute span.

Aly Bryan had a good look off a corner but her bicycle kick hit the top post and went out of bounds.

The Black and Gold had two more breakaway chances but couldn't convert either.

Second Half
In the 57th minute, it looked as though KSU would get on the board. Raelyn Prince took a free kick and ripped it past the Bellarmine goalkeeper. VAR reviewed the goal and determined that an Owl touched it and was subsequently ruled offsides.

That didn't deter the Owls as Alana Nesbit and Bryan both had shots on targets moments later.

The most crucial play of the match came in the 65th minute. Paris McCulloch fouled McKenzie Carle in the box and Carle retaliated, kicking McCulloch in the face. Carle received a red card but the Knights were still rewarded the penalty kick. Lucy von Stefenelli sank the PK.

Up one player, the Owls pushed and pushed but couldn't score. Bryan and Nesbit each hit the crossbar – making it three times they did so this afternoon. In the final 25 minutes, KSU had 10 shots.
