Owls Wrap Up Non-Conference Play against Bellarmine

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's soccer will finish non-conference play at home this Sunday against Bellarmine.
 
The Owls are unbeaten in their last three matches at Fifth Third Stadium at Walens Family Field, drawing in all three contests.

1 p.m. – Kennesaw State (0-4-3, 0-0-0 CUSA) vs. Bellarmine (5-0-2, 0-0-0 ASUN)

The Knight Owl
Midfield Sydni Whitehead played for Bellarmine her first two years before transferring to Kennesaw State this season. She started all 38 games for the Knights, receiving ASUN All-Freshman Team honors in 2023. Whitehead has started every game for the Owls and ranks fourth in minutes played at 521.
 
Shutdown Sara
Sara Hill got the start in net once again for the Black and Gold on Wednesday, putting up a clean sheet against Georgia Southern (9/10). The freshman has conceded two goals in her last three matches. She ranks first in Conference USA in save percentage (0.917) and second in goals-against-average at 0.503.
 
O Captain! My Captain!
Captain Mai Jensen made her return to the pitch for the first time in nearly a year against Georgia State (8/28). The Rockledge, Fla. native has started the last four matches, playing a season-high 83 minutes against Georgia Southern (9/10).
 
New Name, Same Feel
On August 19, Kennesaw State announced that the field at Fifth Third Stadium, home of the Owls' football, soccer and lacrosse programs, will be named Walens Family Field in recognition of a transformative $4 million philanthropic gift from Dave and Donna Walens.
 
CUSA Preseason Poll
Kennesaw State was picked to finish eighth in the Conference USA coaches' preseason poll, tallying 47 total points. The Black and Gold finished seventh in their inaugural CUSA season with a conference record of 2-4-3. The conference expanded to 12 teams following the additions of Missouri State and Delaware, who were predicting to finish third and seventh respectively. Liberty tops the poll with 119 points and nine first-place votes.
 
Scouting the Knights
In Steve Bornhoffer's first year with the program, Bellarmine has already matched their 2024 season win total, going 5-0-2 in its first seven matches.
 
Reigning ASUN Freshman of the Year McKenzie Carle has built off her excellent debut campaign, leading the conference in goals (5) and points (13).
 
Goalkeeper Anna Jenkins has been stellar in net – picking up two ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week honors. The Marquette transfer has tallied two clean sheets with a 0.67 goals-against-average and 0.886 save percentage.
