KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's and women's cross country teams will open the 2025 season, hosting the Stan Sims XC Opener on Friday morning.
The men's four-mile race is set for 8:30 a.m., followed by the women's 5K at 9:15 a.m. Both races will take place at Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth.
The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+. It marks the first regular-season cross country meet to be streamed in Conference USA history and the first time a Kennesaw State home
meet has been broadcast.
Kennesaw State will compete against in-state opponents Georgia Tech, Emory and SCAD Atlanta.
The KSU men and women were both picked to finish third in CUSA Preseason Coaches Poll.
The men return a pair of All-CUSA runners in Collins Kipkemboi and Brian Limo. They are joined by Edwin Kiprono, who joined the team in January and made an immediate impact on the track. The Owls return six members from the 2024 squad and add Kiprono and Andrew Stricklin. KSU placed third in its CUSA Cross Country Championship debut in 2024.
The women also placed third at last season's championship meet. KSU returns All-CUSA performers Emma Fergusn and Madison Seiler. Akshana, who joined in January, earned several CUSA medals during the track season. The Owls bring back eight runners from last season and add newcomers Samantha McGarity, Tess Krogman and transfer Riley Perlakowski.
Kennesaw State will return to action Sept. 12 at the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
