KENNESAW, Ga. – It's becoming an annual tradition for Kennesaw State volleyball to be honored both on the court and in the classroom, as the Owls have been receiving the 2025 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for their academic performance, marking the fourth straight year the Owls have claimed the honor.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year honors collegiate teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
This is now the seventh time in program history that the Owls have received the AVCA award, with all seven coming during Head Coach
Keith Schunzel's tenure (previously in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024).
The team finished the year with an average 3.33 GPA with 15 players earning a 3.0 or better in the spring semester, while three Owls recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. In addition, three Owls earned CSC Academic All-District team recognition from last fall.
