Program-Tying High Six Owls Named CSC Academic All-District

KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second straight year, a program-best six members of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse program claimed CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team honors, the national organization announced on Tuesday. Shannon Harrington, Kendal Elison and Aislinn Pendergast all made repeat selections on the team, while earning academic all-district honors for the first time in their career were Alyssa Angelo, Devon Webb and Nataliz Cruz.  

Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be a starter or important reserve to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District teams.

Harrington, a midfielder from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., ranked in the top 50 in the nation in both total goals (51 – 45th) and goals per game (3.19 – 31st). Her 51 goals this season were the fifth highest total in KSU history, only trailing former Owl All-American Siena Gore. She also ranked third in the conference in total goals and fourth in goals per game. Harrington added seven assists as well for a team-high tying 58 points. She is currently majoring in elementary education.

Angelo, a graduate student attacker and native of Peachtree City, Ga., set a new KSU single season record this year with 30 total assists. That mark also ranked her 45th in the nation, while her 1.88 assists per game was the 47th-highest. Angelo was a scoring threat as well for the Owls, recording 28 goals (third-best on the team) to give her 58 points, tying her for the lead with Harrington. She also posted 66 total draw controls, tops on the team and the ninth-highest total in KSU history for a season. She finished the year receiving her digital and social media certificate.

Webb, a senior midfielder from Tabernacle, N.J., started all 16 games for the Owls this season. She was one of the top defensive players on the squad, and finished the year with 28 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and six draw controls. She majored in leadership sport and exercise science.

Elison, a junior from Collegeville, Penn., is a computer science major that appeared in 15 games this year with 12 starts. She also posted 19 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Cruz, a senior goalkeeper from Ovieda, Fla., finished the year with 57 saves and collected a pair of wins on the season. She graduated this past May with a degree in biology.

The final honoree was Pendergast, a junior from Dacula, Ga., who is majoring in political science. She played and started in all 16 games, and was in the top four on the team in both draw controls (51) and caused turnovers (12).
