KENNESAW, Ga. –Kennesaw State's Adrian Wooley became the first player in school history to earn district honors as a freshman, as he was named to the 2024-25 NABC Division I All-South Atlantic District Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I. Wooley is one of four players from Conference USA to be voted to an all-district team, and he becomes fifth Owl to ever earn district recognition.
Wooley was the catalyst for an Owl team that far surpassed all preseason predictions, as KSU finished in fourth place in Conference USA with a 10-8 mark, after being picked to finish in last place in the preseason polls. KSU finished the season with an 19-13 overall record, which is the second-most wins ever in school history (D1 era). The Owls fell just short of an appearance in the CUSA Tournament championship game after an 81-79 loss to top-seed Liberty in the semifinal round last week in Huntsville, Ala.
His spot on the finalist list comes just one week after he claimed Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors, while also earning spots on both the All-CUSA First Team and CUSA All-Freshman squads. He was also named a finalist for the Kyle Macy Award for the top freshman player in the nation, which also places him on the freshman All-America team.
Wooley, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., turned in one of the most impressive seasons by any freshmen in the nation, and currently ranks as the fifth-highest scoring freshman in the nation with 18.8 points per game.
That also ranks him third overall in Conference USA, while he also ranks sixth among all freshmen in field goal percentage at 51.2%, and 13th among freshman in assists per game at 3.6. He is one of just two freshmen in the nation, along with Cooper Flagg from Duke, to lead their team in both scoring and field goal percentage and become the first-ever freshman in CUSA history to average over 17 points per game and shoot over 50% from the floor.
He became KSU's all-time leading freshman scorer this season, setting new marks in both ppg as well as total points at 619, which is also the second-highest total for any players in a Division I season at KSU.
