KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second straight week and eighth time this season, Adrian Wooley has been named Conference USA Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. This is the 10th total freshman of the week honor for KSU in the 14 total weeks of the season.
A 6-2 guard from Tuscaloosa, Ala., Wooley posted a pair of 20+ points games as the Owls knocked off Western Kentucky on Feb. 6 before falling to Middle Tennessee by just a point on Feb. 8. He averaged a team-high 26 points per game for the week, second-best overall average among all CUSA players for the two-game period, and shot 58.6% from the floor, 58.6% from three-point range and 81.3% at the line. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
In the win over Western Kentucky, he notched his second double-double of the season with 23 points and a career-high tying 11 rebounds. That was followed by a game-high 29 points in the 76-75 setback to Middle Tennessee, as he was 10-of-16 from the floor. He scored 16 points in the second half as he nearly led the Owls back from a 15-point halftime deficit. Wooley connected on his final four shots from the floor, and was four-of-four at the line in the final 15 seconds to bring KSU within a point.
Currently he is averaging 18.9 points per game, and his 21.0 ppg in CUSA games are the most by any player by two full points.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will face Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La., in a 7:30 p.m. (ET) contest that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
