FAN EVENTS

The Myrtle Beach Bowl has a wide array of events planned for fans that make the trip to South Carolina. More details to come.

THE MATCHUP

Kennesaw State (10-3) is fresh off winning the CUSA Championship Game in a thrilling 19-15 game against Jax State that saw QB Amari Odom and the Owls drive down the field and connect with WR Navelle Dean with under a minute remaining for the game-winning touchdown.

It's the first time a team has won the championship game in the final minute of regulation.

Entering championship weekend, the Owls ranked top 5 in Conference USA in 23 statistical categories and top-50 nationally in five and are one of the hottest teams in the nation.

One of the best stories in college sports, Kennesaw State's 10 wins mark:

  • Only the fifth time a team has won 10 or more games in its second year of FBS play.

  • The seventh-biggest year-over-year turnaround in college football history (+8 games).

  • The fifth-largest year-over-year turnaround since 2000 and the third-largest since 2015.

Western Michigan (9-4) heads to South Carolina after defeating Miami (Ohio), 23-13, in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championship game. The Broncos sported both the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in QB Broc Lowry and the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in DE Nadame Tucker. Lance Taylor was also voted MAC Coach of the Year, making the matchup in Myrtle Beach a battle between two conference coaches of the year.

Lowry threw for 1,683 passing yards (154-of-243) and seven touchdowns, while rushing for 940 yards and 14 scores. Tucker racked up 55 tackles on the year with 21 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.

WMU is making its 13th bowl appearance in program history and its first since 2021 (W, 52-24 vs. Nevada in Quick Lane Bowl). After making six bowls between 2008-18, the 2025 Myrtle Beach Bowl will mark only the third bowl appearance since then.
