CLEMSON, S.C. — 27 members of the Kennesaw State men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2025-26 indoor season Friday at the Clemson Opener.
Men's Recap
The Owls opened competition Friday morning with three men's field events.
Simon Seid led the way in the pole vault, placing second with a clearance of 4.95 meters (16 feet, 2.75 inches).
Gavin Horton finished sixth after clearing 4.80 meters (15-9).
In the men's high jump,
Kenyatta Bennett tied for the 10th-best mark in program history with a clearance of 2.11 meters (6-11). Freshman
Gage Voyles cleared 2.01 meters (6-7) to place third in his collegiate debut.
Evan Martinez opened his sophomore campaign with a second-place finish in the shot put, recording a throw of 16.94 meters (55-7).
Three freshmen made their collegiate debuts in the men's triple jump.
Bryson Gilchrist (7.04 meters | 23-1.25) and
Jeremiah Madison (6.94 meters | 22-9.25) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Nyles Stuart placed 12th.
In the weight throw, Martinez (18.14 meters | 59-6.25) and
Harrison Pawsatt (17.59 meters | 57-8.5) took fourth and fifth.
Cameron Dean finished second in the long jump in his KSU debut, posting a mark of 14.79 meters (48-6.25).
Chinedum Ike followed in fourth with a jump of 14.64 meters (47-11.25).
The men's events concluded with the women's triple jump, where
Kaylan McConnehead (11.88 meters | 38-11.75) and freshman
Jermiya Winston (11.87 meters | 38-11.5) placed fifth and sixth.
Women's Recap
Kali Terza highlighted the day for the women's squad, breaking her own school record in the weight throw by nearly three feet. She won the event with a mark of 21.94 meters (70-5.75). She was joined in the field by
Maya Steines (19.52 meters | 64-0.5),
Mary Gill (16.97 meters | 55-8.25) and
Jakayla Arnold (16.52 meters | 54-2.75).
Transfer
Morgan Pepe impressed in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.94 meters (12-11) to finish second—good for third all time at KSU.
Lilly Chouinard and Keira Height tied for fourth after clearing 3.79 meters (12-5.25).
In the women's long jump, transfer
Myesha Hall placed fourth with a leap of 5.83 meters (19-1.5) on her final attempt.
Arnold capped her collegiate debut with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, recording a throw of 12.22 meters (40-1.25).
