KENNESAW, Ga. – Following a record-setting performance while leading Kennesaw State to the Coconut Hoops championship title, senior
Simeon Cottle has been named this week's Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This is the first player of the week honor for KSU this season, and it's the fourth in Cottle's career after earning the recognition three times in 2024-25.
Cottle, a native of College Park, Ga., was sensational in the Owls' three games last week, averaging 24.3 points per game while leading KSU to overtime wins over Rice and FGCU. In the final game of the event, hosted by FGCU in Alico Arena, he scored a career-high 33 points to lead KSU to a thrilling 102-100 victory. In the overtime period, he was perfect, going 1-of-1 from three-point range and 8-of-8 at the line, part of a 14-of-14 overall performance from the charity stripe for the contest. Cottle also posted 25 points in the opening win over Rice and added 15 against Oral Roberts.
Currently, Cottle is first in Conference USA and 29
th in the nation in scoring with 20.4 points per contest.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Jackson State. That will be followed by Saturday's rescheduled contest with Georgia State, now set for 3 p.m., as well as a Monday, Dec. 8 game against Southern Wesleyan at 12 p.m., and all three games will be in VyStar Arena and streamed live on ESPN+.
