KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's highly anticipated game with South Florida is just around the corner, as the two teams will face off for the first-time ever on the basketball court on Sunday, Nov. 16 to honor the legacy of Amir Abdur-Rahim, who passed away unexpectedly just over a year ago before the start of the 2024-25 season.
The game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. inside VyStar Arena, and it will be streamed live on ESPN+. Tickets are going quickly, so fans can claim their seats now at

Abdur-Rahim was widely considered as one of the rising talents in college basketball, and it was a loss for the basketball world as well as the larger Atlanta and Tampa communities. He first worked his magic at Kennesaw State, taking a team that had never posted a winning season in its Division I history, and led the Owls from a one-win season in year one to a 26-8 mark, an Atlantic Sun regular season and tournament championship, and the first-ever NCAA March Madness appearance in school history. KSU nearly upset third-seed Xavier, leading the majority of the game before coming up just short in the final seconds.
He moved to USF following the season and promptly led the Bulls to their first-ever regular season championship as they captured the American Conference title, and they would advance to the Postseason NIT as well.
"Love Wins" was Abdur-Rahim's mantra, and it is in that spirit that the two schools came together to schedule this series, with the Owls slated to play in Tampa next season. There will be also a halftime recognition of Coach Amir.
