KENNESAW, Ga. – In what's becoming a weekly tradition for Kennesaw State, an Owl was named Conference USA Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week as
Trey Simpson was honored by the league office for the opening week, it was announced on Monday. This marks the 14
th time in KSU's 19 total weeks as a member of CUSA that they have had the conference freshman of the week, after picking up the award in 13 out of 18 weeks in the 2024-25 season.
Simpson, a native of Evergreen, Ala., is one of a trio of outstanding first-year players for the Black and Gold, and he shined on the court in his first two career collegiate games. In his opening debut, he led the Owls with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-9 from three-point range in KSU's victory over Paine College on Nov. 3. The forward followed that with 10 points in an Owl road victory at Florida A&M on Nov. 8.
For the week, he averaged 14 points on 10-of-17 shooting (58.8%) and 7-of-14 (50%) from three-point land, while also grabbing 6.5 rebounds per contest.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will begin a two-game homestand on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Point University in VyStar Arena.
