KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior
Manu Johnsen has picked up her first honor of the season as she was named Conference USA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This is the second weekly honor for Johnsen in CUSA, and the fourth overall of her career.
Johnsen, a native of Denmark, Copenhagen, maintained her electrifying presence on offense this weekend, leading the Owls in kills, points and aces. She also grabbed back-to-back double-doubles as KSU recorded a weekend sweep over FIU. For the week, she posted 38 total kills (4.22 kills per set) while hitting .316. She also averaged 2.56 digs per set and added five total blocks and a team-high tying five aces. The dominating outside hitter currently leads CUSA in kills and points per set and is second in service aces per set. In Friday's victory, she posted a game-high 17 kills and five aces, while adding 10 digs. Johnsen followed that with an impressive season-high of 21 kills to go along with 13 digs and three blocks in the Owls' reverse sweep on Saturday.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will hit the road this weekend to face Liberty in a two-match series on October 10–11 in Lynchburg, Va., with a Friday contest at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday's match at 1 p.m.
