KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State brings its win streak on the road, as the third-place Owls will face Sam Houston State in a Halloween weekend series in Huntsville, Texas, as the Conference USA season enters its final three weeks. The Owls will first play on Friday in a 7 p.m. (ET) contest, before closing out against the Bearkats with the second game in the series on Saturday at 2 p.m., and both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
- The Owls are on fire, having won eight of their last nine contests, including five straight, to move into not only a tie for third place in the Conference USA standings at 8-2 with FIU, but KSU is just one game out of first place as UTEP and Western Kentucky are currently tied at 9-1.
- KSU's current five-game win streak is the longest for the team since a six-game streak during the 2022 season, and is tied for the 33rd longest active streak in the nation as of Oct. 30.
- KSU has been steadily improving offensively each time out, and now rank 64th in the nation in hitting percentage as a team at 0.249, one of its highest in years and currently the fourth best in CUSA.
- It's a strong year for the conference in the national RPI rankings, as UTEP has appeared in the top 25 several times and is 24th this week while Western Kentucky is currently at 35. The Owls meanwhile are the fourth-highest team in CUSA at 102, while FIU is 97.
- The Owls are deadly behind the service line, ranking 15th in the nation with 2.00 saps.
- A year ago, the story about the Owls was the youth movement as they were routinely playing five freshmen each game, easily the most under Head Coach Keith Schunzel's first 12 years in Kennesaw. Now, it's about an experienced KSU squad that is picked in the top four in Conference USA with sights on challenging for the league title, as the Owls return the most players from their 2024 squad as well as the most productivity of any team in the nation.- A year ago, the story about the Owls was the youth movement as they were routinely playing five freshmen each game, easily the most under Head Coach Keith Schunzel's first 12 years in Kennesaw.
