KENNESAW, Ga. – Kaeley Walz has been named this week's Conference USA Volleyball Setter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This is the first weekly honor for Walz this season, and the second in her career. She is also the third Owl to earn weekly honors this season, joining
Manu Johnsen (Offensive) and
Olivia Burrage (Defensive).
Walz, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., averaged an impressive 7.89 assists per set while playing in the 6-2 system, helping the Owls claim a pair of wins over Delaware to move to 8-2 in league play, just one game out of first place. She recorded 41 assists in the win on Friday while helping KSU record a .268 hitting percentage, and then added 30 assists in a four-set win on Saturday, giving her 71 total assists for the weekend.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are on the road for a pair of games on Halloween weekend, starting with a Friday night contest at Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. (ET), and the second game in the weekend series between the two is slated for a 2 p.m. (ET) start on Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
