KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second straight week a Kennesaw State Owl picked up weekly honors, as
Olivia Burrage has been named this week's Conference USA Volleyball Defensive of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This is the second weekly honor for Burrage in her career from CUSA, and she is the second this season to be honored after
Manu Johnsen was the Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
Burrage, a redshirt middle blocker from Jefferson, Ga., recorded a career-high 10 blocks in the Owls' 3-2 victory on Saturday at Liberty. That gave KSU its first Top-75 road win of the season, and moved the Owls into a tie for third place in the conference standings. Her 10 blocks are also tied for the third most in a match in school history, while overall the Owls had 19 team blocks in the win, the most by a KSU team in eight years. For the weekend, she posted 13 total blocks for a 1.44 blocks per set average, and also made an impact on the offensive side, recording 17 total kills, a 1.89 kills per set average.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls begin a four-game homestand this weekend, when they host Jacksonville State on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m. in VyStar Arena.
