KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State quarterback
Dexter Williams II was lauded for his performance in the Owl's triumph over LA Tech this past Thursday at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium, being named to the Davey O'Brien Award's weekly "Great 8" and being named one of eight quarterbacks to the Manning Award's "Stars of the Week."
En route to a 35-7 thrashing of Louisiana Tech, Williams captained an offense that amassed 400 yards and five scores on Thursday night – including only the second rushing touchdown surrendered by the Bulldogs this season.
Williams connected on a program-record 27-of-36 (.750) through the air – including 11-straight completions at one point across the second and third quarters – for 290 passing yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He was an ultra-accurate 9-for-10 on midrange passes (5-14 yards) and 3-for-4 on deep passes (15+ yards).
The Macon, Ga. native is one of just seven Conference USA quarterbacks since 2021 to throw for 290+ yards and four touchdowns with a .750 completion percentage or better.
Williams recorded the top passing grade in CUSA (83.2) for Week 7, according to
Pro Football Focus. He also turned in the second-best PFF offensive grade overall in CUSA (80.6) in Week 7 en route to what would've been a 131.6 NFL passer rating.

The Davey O'Brien Great 8 recognizes the top performances by college football quarterbacks each week. One member of the Great 8 list will be named the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week on Tuesday. All quarterbacks of the Great 8 are also named to the Davey O'Brien Award Midseason Watch List.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
