KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State redshirt freshman
Jacob Ulrich has been included on the Ray Guy Award's "Ray's 8" list, which recognizes the nation's top eight punters of the week.
In his first career action at punter, Ulrich set the school record for average, booming five kicks at a gaudy 54.6 yards per punt, besting the previous record of 53.5 set in 2016 against Presbyterian.
Of his five punts, the Dacula native was able to pin two inside the 20 and launched a whopping four 50-yard kicks – including a 59-yarder in the second quarter.
Ulrich's 54.6-yard average led the nation (min. 4 attempts) by more than half a yard. Only three punters averaged a better mark, but with only three tries (Oklahoma State, Wake Forest and Southern California). He led Conference USA by more than 7 yards per punt.
Ulrich and the Owls return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 for their first FBS home game and the 2024 home opener versus Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ and the KSU Owls Network. An extremely limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased online at
