KENNESAW, Ga. – Fighting through heavy rain, the Owls secured their second draw of the CUSA season in a scoreless match versus Louisiana Tech Thursday afternoon.
"I was pleased with how our team rose to the challenge today," coach Crhis Cahill said. "I felt that we really grew into the game as it went along and we did a fantastic job handling the elements."
First Half
The conditions were rugged with rain persisting throughout the entire match. Due to inclement weather, the match was moved from 7 p.m. ET to 1:30 p.m. ET.
Delaney Edwards provided the only shot on goal in the first half for either team when she fired a long-range missile from outside the box in the 40th minute.
2nd half
The second half started much faster with both teams testing the opposing keepers.
Tianna Rivera created the first scoring opportunity for the Owls and an Annabel Orozco foul gave the Bulldogs a free kick opportunity but neither team was able to convert.
Charlee Bernal was tested several times throughout the second half making a plethora of saves in spectacular fashion.
Action ramped up in the second half in the shot category as both teams collectively tallied five in the first half while earning 15 in the second half.
"Overall, I'm happy with the growth of this team through this season and specially in this game," Chaill said. "Now we turn our attention to Sam Houston on Sunday."
Spotlights
Bernal made several game saving plays in the final 20 minutes racking up five saves in the match. Bernal has registered back-to-back clean sheet for the first time in her career.
The Owls showcased their grit and physicality as they recorded a season high of 13 fouls compared to the three from the Bulldogs.
