JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Threatening until the final buzzer, Kennesaw State deadlocked with North Florida in a 0-0 draw Thursday evening in Jacksonville, Fla.
"It's good to see the whole team contribute today," coach
Chris Cahill said. "The squad stepped up and worked to grind out a result on the road in a challenging environment. I'd like to thank our athletic trainer Quentin Mullen for being the MVP and getting our team ready today."
First Half
Through the first 15 minutes, Kennesaw State developed a handful of promising opportunities as several passes made their way into the opposing box. During that span, KSU earned two corner kicks.
A few minutes later,
Aryana Rosenblum made a marvelous save via the quick reaction with a dashing attacker to the right corner of the box. After a ball with lofted in, the UNF attacker tried to send it in between the legs of the keeper but the active hands of Rosenblum sent the threat away.
She tallied yet another save in the waning minutes of the first saga with her left foot, taking away the biggest chance of the half for the Ospreys.
Second Half
The Owls had a stranglehold over the pacing of the majority of the stanza. KSU was able to connect on several long passes in the attacking third but were unable to find their footing for shots on goal.
With 20 minutes left,
Anabel Orozco put the moves on a flanking UNF defender as the Owl gained the edge to cross a ball in.
Brenna Young received the cross with a header that launched over the crossbar, marking the most dangerous look of the half for the Owl.
The Owls were able to avoid disaster thanks to the help of
Naomi Moleka and the backline as they neutralized numerous chances for UNF in the final minutes.
Orozco manufactured another threat of the game with a stinger toward the left corner of the goal that was deflected for a corner by the UNF keeper. KSU's best opportunity came with three minutes left as
Tianna Rivera flicked a left footed shot into the keeper's arms. She received the chance thanks to the corner from
Mai Jensen that was dumped into middle of the box. The Black and Gold maintained momentum from the last 10 minutes until the final buzzer, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
