KENNESAW, Ga. – It was another successful year for Kennesaw State volleyball on both the court and in the classroom, as the Owls again have been honored for their academic work by receiving the 2024 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for their performance in the classroom.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year honors collegiate teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
This is now the sixth time in program history, and the third straight year, that the Owls have received the AVCA award, with all six coming during Head Coach
Keith Schunzel's tenure (2014, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2023).
The team finished the year with an average 3.51 GPA with eight players earning a 3.0 or better in the spring semester, while three Owls recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. In addition, four Owls earned CSC Academic All-District team recognition from last fall.
