KENNESAW, Ga. – A program-best six members of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse program earned academic recognition on Tuesday, as
Caroline Farley,
Julia Weiss,
Hannah Barth,
Shannon Harrington, Kendal Ellison and
Aislinn Pendergast were all named to the CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team. This is also a repeat appearance for both Farley and Weiss after earning their first career honors a season ago.
Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be a starter or important reserve to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District teams.
Farley, a senior midfielder from Costa Mesa, Calif., had a career season for the Owls as she paced the team with 47 goals and added three assists for 50 points, tied for second best on the squad. A psychology major, she graduated in May with a 3.94 cum GPA.
Weiss, a senior goalkeeper from Mt. Airy, Md., led the team with 94 saves after starting all 16 games this season. She finished her career at KSU with a 3.97 GPA while receiving her degree in psychology, and was selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team this past season.
Barth, a senior midfielder from Herndon, Va., led the Owls in assists with 24, and earlier this season became the school's all-time career assist leader, finishing the year with 69. She also paced KSU in points with 53, while holding a 3.5 cum GPA as a marketing major. She ranked fourth in goals (29) for the team and draw
controls (24), and was named ASUN Player of the Week once during the season as well as earning ASUN All-Academic honors. Barth held a 3.55 cum GPA and graduated with a degree in psychology.
Harrington finished up her second year as an Owl as once again one of the top offensive players on the team, ranking second in goals (46) and tied second in points (50). A sophomore from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., she holds a 3.78 cum GPA while majoring in elementary education.
Ellison, a sophomore from Collegeville, Penn., is a computer science major with a 4.0 cum GPA. She appeared in all 16 games this past season for the Owls. The final honoree was Pendergast, a sophomore from Dacula, Ga., who is majoring in political science while holding a 3.9 GPA. Pendergast appeared in all 16 games with eight starts, and was fifth on the team in caused turnovers with ten.
