KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State women's soccer has added assistant coach Wezly Barnard, head coach Chris Cahill announced Tuesday morning.

"I'm excited to have Wezly join the program and look forward to utilizing his background to further strengthen our coaching staff and be an example for the team," Cahill said.

Barnard comes straight from the Southern Soccer Academy where he served as the Director of Coaching Atlanta in 2023. While there, he was responsible for the player and goalkeeper curriculum, managing team staff, program logistics and much more. Along with his administrative duties, he managed the Atlanta program and oversaw the development of the goalkeeper program.

"Wez's background in developing players at all levels, will directly translate to leading our goalkeepers and help us move the program down the path to success," Cahill added.

Prior to SSA, Barnard spent two years as the Director of Goalkeeping at North Carolina FC for two years. He was the head of the goalkeeping program and operated as a film review and game analysis coordinator.

He is familiar with the metro area as well while he served as the Assistant and Goalkeepers Coach for the Berry women's soccer team in Rome, Ga. He played a vital role in team logistics, recruiting and practice and game preparation. The Young Harris graduate played a part in the scheduling process for the Vikings.

From 2019-20, Barnard worked as a Goalkeepers Coach in the Olympic Development Program along with Atlanta United. While working with the development program, he created and executed goalkeeper session for the girls team. While with United, he was a coach for the regional development school, developing curriculum for players.

The Atlanta native has been all around the North Georgia area with stops at Brookhaven FC and Smyrna Soccer Club.

During his playing days at Young Harris, he won the Male Student Athlete of the year three times (2011-13) and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and public policy in 2013.
