Nine Owls Earn Athlon Preseason All-CUSA Team Honors

KENNESAW, Ga. - Nine student-athletes were tabbed to Athlon Sports' Preseason All-Conference USA Team, the outlet announced last week.

Redshirt junior Gabriel Benyard earned three selections including second team punt returner, third team kick returner and fourth team running back honors.

Joining Benyard on the third team was running back Michael Benefield, defensive linemen Donovan Westmoreland and Jordan Miles and linebacker Garland Benyard. Tight end Carson Kent, linebacker Donelius Johnson and defensive backs JeRico Washington Jr., and Sidney Porter were named to the preseason fourth team.

The Black and Gold posted 11 honors in total, ahead of New Mexico State (10), Middle Tennessee State (9) and UTEP (9).

2024 marks the Owls' first season of competition at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level and as a member of Conference USA.

Single-game ticket sales for Kennesaw State's 2024 football season are now available for purchase here. Kennesaw State opens the home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m. against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on ESPN+ - the first FBS home game for the Owls.

The home slate includes contests against UT Martin for Homecoming (Sept. 28), Jacksonville State (Friday, Oct. 4), 2023 CUSA Champion Liberty (Wednesday, Oct. 23), Sam Houston (Nov. 16) and Florida International (Nov. 23).

2024 is also highlighted by the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history this past winter and the promotions of Greg Harris to defensive coordinator and Chandler Burks and Stewart Cook to co-offensive coordinators.

KSU's move to CUSA becomes official on July 1.
