KSU Dealt Setback Friday Night in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kennesaw State (25-22, 15-9 Atlantic Sun Conference) dropped its series opener with the Jacksonville Dolphins (23-25, 16-9 ASUN), 6-2, Friday night at John Sessions Stadium.

Hudson Mimbs led the Black and Gold with his fifth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3.

Chris Cole, Brayden Eidson and Jackson Chirello each extended their reached-base streaks to eight games each Friday night.

Chirello posted his 10th game this season with multiple hits, including a single in the bottom of the ninth.

Cole led off the fourth with an infield single then stole his 13th base of 2024. With Isaac Bouton on first, Nick Hassan hit a fast grounder to short to score Cole and cut into the JU lead, 2-1.

Two at-bats later, Hassan crossed home on a sacrifice fly from Zac Corbin to even the game at two. JU took a 6-2 lead by the end of the sixth.

Reliever Halton Hardy pitched the final two innings for Kennesaw State and allowed just one hit and prevented further Dolphin runs.

Jacksonville held on in the final three frames to take the win.
